Cub Day Camp - Cub Resident Camp - Cub Adventure Weekends - Scouts BSA Camp

Distinguished Unit Criteria

The Baden-Powell Council is pleased to announce a Distinguished Unit Program that offers incentives and discounts to units - Packs, Troops, Crews and Ships - that qualify. Benefits include:

  1. $25 per boy discount on the in-council summer resident camp programs.
  2. Free unit tent camping from September 1st to June 1st at either of our council camps.

All qualifications must be met between the end of the previous year’s summer camp program and prior to the unit attending camp in the current calendar year. If a unit qualifies after the early bird registration deadlines, late fees for payment still apply. If a unit has paid in full before the early bird deadline, a credit will be applied to their unit account.

All Baden-Powell Council Packs, Troops, Crews, and Ships must complete at least five of the following seven requirements:

1. Hold an annual Program Planning Conference and develop an annual plan for your unit, including a budget.
2. Qualify Silver or Gold in the Advancement category in the Journey to Excellence Program for the previous year.
3. Participate in Friends of Scouting Campaign and have a presentation date submitted to the district by December 15, 2018.
4. Increase average Popcorn Sales per Scout from the previous year.
5. Recharter on Time and submit a 2018 JTE Scorecard with your charter.
6. Log hours for at least one (1) community service project into the online Service Hours Reporting system.
7. At least 50% of the registered youth in the unit attend an in Council Summer Resident Camp Program.

Packs, Troops, Ships and Crews must complete one of the following:

  1. Participate in one or more of the fall and spring work days at either Baden-Powell Council camp.
  2. As a unit, conduct a Service Project pre-approved by the Camp Ranger at one of the council camps since the end of the prior year summer camp program.

Nathaniel Cole Park - This Broome County park located on Colesville Road features a 53-acre lake with twin areas of white sand as well as self-guided nature trails, including a 1.5 mile loop around the scenic lake. It is the largest protected beach in the Broome County Park System. From STEM to Scout Skills, BB Gun, Archery, Swimming and Ga-Ga Ball, your Scout is sure to enjoy this camp.

Montrose Campground (new location) - located in the beautiful Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, this secluded paradise boasts fantastic views and offers endless possibilities. Featuring scenic wooded trails, a beautiful pond and many things to do, your Scout is bound to have a memorable week! Swimming, Archery, BB guns, Hiking, Science, Crafts and more will be offered at this NEW LOCATION! June 24-28 Montrose, PA
Oxford Rod & Gun Club / Bowman Lake State Park - The Oxford Rod and Gun Club is the premier sportsman paradise for girls and boys of all ages. Camp will begin the day at this location. Bowman Lake is a State Park known as a "camper's paradise". It is a scenic park with hiking trails lined with evergreen and hardwoods. There is also a sandy lake front that is regularly stocked with trout. Bowman Lake Activities will include swimming and fishing, while the other activities of BB guns, Archery, Scout Crafts, Sports, Hiking, Scout Skills, and Nature/Science will take place at the Rod and Gun Club. Izaak Walton League -  one of the nation's most respected conservation organizations in our country. The Cortland Chapter was organized in 1939. Their lands and clubhouse are located at 530 State Route 41A in Homer, New York. The property consists of 79 pristine acres of mostly wooded hills, streams, pond and fields. Their members, men and women, are active conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts. They graciously welcome us to their facility annually and we are truly grateful for their support. Tioga County Sportsmen's Association - Owego Day Camp is a fun filled week of great Scout activities on a 100 acre facility that is sure to give plenty of room for adventure. July 29

Camp Barton - a Baden-Powell Council camp located on 300 acres on Frontenac Point on the west shore of Cayuga Lake in New York State's Finger Lakes. It is approximately nine miles north of Ithaca, New York. Your Scout can feel the history of Scout camping when they explore this beautiful camp.  Aug 19-23 Trumansburg, NY

Cub Adventure Weekends - Camp Barton and Camp Tuscarora

Cub Scout Family Adventure Weekends are offered twice a year (Spring and Fall) at our Camps—Barton and Tuscarora. Cub Scouts of all ranks are encouraged to attend these weekends with their parents/guardians and siblings. Here’s a chance to come and see what our Camps have to offer, to experience the great outdoors, and to have fun.

Cub Scouts of all ranks are encouraged to attend these weekends with their parents/guardians and siblings. Here's a chance to see what our camps have to offer, to experience the great outdoors and to have lots of fun!!

Registration is from 8:00 am to 9:45 am on Saturday morning; the program concludes after the Campfire program that evening. For those that choose to stay overnight at either Camp breakfast will be provided on Sunday morning at 8am prior to departure.

The cost is $20.00 per Cub Scout and $15.00 per adult or sibling and includes three meals and a Saturday night snack. Reservations and payment are due, BY PACK, to the Council Service Center no later than 7 days prior to the start of the weekend you are attending.

Cub Resident Camps

Cub Scout Resident Camping is a multi-day and overnight experience that is held at one of our two council Camps – Barton and Tuscarora. These programs allow your Cub Scout to get a taste of what our Camps have to offer and to start developing the skills to become a Boy Scout. From Hiking in the Woods, to Swimming in the Lakes, to Shooting a Bow and Arrow, our Cub Scout Resident Camps provide your Scout with the thrill of a life-time!!

Cub Scouts are organized into Dens with other Boys of their age and then spend their time visiting the Program Areas throughout the Camps. Activities include: Archery, BB Gun Shooting, Swimming, Boating, Handicrafts, Scout Craft Skills and Sports. Camp Staff deliver the exciting and fast-paced program with a Theme unique to the Camp and the year (past themes have included Pirates, Knights in Armor, the Gold Rush, Mysteries, and Space Exploration).

Scouts BSA Camps

Baden-Powell Council operates two Scout Camps: 

Summer camp packages will be mailed to Scout leaders in mid February.  The camps fill up quickly - if your unit hasn't made a reservation yet, be sure to do so soon!
