Title - Description Files

Required for All Leaders

Youth Protection Training (YPT). Every registered BSA adult member is required to be YPT trained, and must renew his/her YPT certification every two years.

Notes: The basic YPT course (Y01) is "generic" - all leaders should take Y01 except as follows:

  • Venturing leaders must take Y02
  • Explorer leaders are supposed to take Y03 - but this course is the same as Y02 but for the difference in Post/Crew terminology. Explorer advisors at the University should take Y02 and speak with Council to get credit for Y03 on their records.
  • Commissioners may take any YPT, but it is recommended to take the YPT course(s) appropriate to the units you commission.
